Volunteer Spotlight | CARL!
Carl is a long-time volunteer with us at NAMI of Washington County. He has taken on many hats at our organization and we couldn't do it without him! Please read his biography below.
"I was born barefoot. Son of a shoe repairman. Went to Sunset High School then Phoenix for college where I earned a Bachelor Degree in Computer Information Systems. After that I worked at Boeing supporting computer systems. It was there where my mental health problems started. I went on to work at Dex (the local phone company), Dial soap, American Express, Northern Arizona University, Nike, Freightliner, UTI package delivery, Intel and many more companies. I supported and developed computer systems from place to place as a Business Systems Analyst and Data Analyst. I am currently on disability and found my niche in life. Serving others.
I volunteer at NAMI of Washington County where I have been a Men's Group Facilitator, Statewide Connections Facilitator and participated as a Peer in multiple groups in a week and volunteered in the St. Vincent's Outreach Program. Currently I facilitate Social Connections After Hours and the Sunday Connections Group with Clay. I also maintain and organize a Compassionate Call list for NAMI. I have put together the NAMI Summer Art Show.
I am full of ideas. I love helping people. I would make a great addition to the Board of Directors where I can provide ideas and share knowledge of the Peer to Peer groups."
