Parent and Youth Presentations

We offer a wide range of presentations that we would love to bring to your area or group!

Please look through the options, and then reach out to christy@washconami.org to request a presentation.

Ending the Silence

NAMI Ending the Silence is an engaging presentation that helps audience members learn about the warning signs of mental health conditions and what steps to take if you or someone you know is showing symptoms of a mental health condition. Presentations are offered at no cost.

Ending the Silence can be adapted for parents, school staff, and students. The presentation is about an hour long, but can be adapted to fit your needs.

This is an interactive presentation that includes two leaders: one who shares an informative presentation and a young adult living with mental illness who shares their journey to recovery. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain understanding of an often misunderstood topic. Through this dialogue, we can help grow the movement to end stigma.

To request more information or to book a presentation, send an email to christy@washconami.org.

We’re also always looking for more young adults to share their story and combat the stigma as an Ending the Silence presenter! Email christy@washconami.org if you’re interested - we provide free training, to help you tell your story in a way that feels good to both you and the audience.

Parent Cafe

Parent Cafés are physically and emotionally safe spaces where parents and caregivers talk and listen to each other on topics that matter to them, such as the challenges and victories of raising a family, navigating landscapes of inequality, enhancing well-being, or being involved in the recovery process of someone they love. Through individual deep self-reflection and peer-to-peer learning, participants explore their strengths, learn about the Protective Factors, and create strategies from their own wisdom and experiences to strengthen their families.

Parents and caregivers leave Cafés feeling inspired, energized, and excited to put into practice what they've learned.

Parent Cafés are based on the Protective Factors Framework from Be Strong Families, including parental resilience, social connections, concrete support in times of need, knowledge of parenting and child development, and social and emotional competence of children.

Parenting & Mental Health

At Parenting and Mental Health, presented in partnership with Tara Rolstad, of Shattering Stigma with Stories, we share stories from parents and youth who have dealt with mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, panic disorder, ADHD, and suicidal ideation.

When we host P&MH conferences, we work with the local school district to feature specific information for their community. This includes presentations from local therapists and school psychologists, who provide information about specific mental health issues kids face, and hands-on practical tools parents can use right away with children and families in their community.
